Walking and General Mobility Help for Your Older Loved One

Our team of dedicated caregivers are ready to provide invaluable support to your elderly parents or older family member as they face mobility challenges in the comfort of their own home.

1st Call Home Care understands that as individuals age, simple tasks like walking, standing, or getting out of bed can become increasingly difficult.

For the everyday tasks like walking, sitting down, and getting out of bed that seem daunting to your loved one.

Minimize the risk of falls.

How we can help your senior with walking and mobility issues?

As they age, everyday tasks like walking, sitting down, and getting out of bed can become daunting and even precarious, potentially leading to falls.

We understand the concerns of older individuals who start to become fearful, knowing that their physical strength naturally diminishes with time.

And for good reasons, because bones become fragile with old age, making them more susceptible to fractures in case of a fall.

At 1st Call Home Care, we build the expertise of our caregivers in handling a wide range of mobility issues.

They get training in using practical techniques to help our clients transfer safely.

We focus on safe, respectful, and personalized attention to the frail and aging.

Why It’s Good to Help Your Elderly Transfer from their Bed to a Chair:

  1. Lightly or moderately assisting your frail senior to transfer from a bed to a chair may help prevent a potential injury or a fall, both of which are common risks for older individuals with limited mobility.
  2. You are also fostering semi-autonomy because even though you’re there to give a hand, it still allows them to maintain a degree of control over their movements.
  3. It promotes their sense of confidence when you leave some room for your senior to maneuver on his or her own with dignity and a sense of safety.
  4. Moreover, regular transfers from bed to chair encourage physical activity and engagement with the surroundings. They can socialize more if they’re sitting on a chair or wheelchair instead of confining themselves to their bed.
  5. Movement stimulates blood circulation, muscle strength, and joint flexibility, all of which contribute to better overall physical health.
